    Commercial Security Tips

    Having a security system in place is a great start, but here are a few other tips on securing your business location.

    • If you have a storefront, is it well lit at night?
    • Do your staff policies require at least two people to open or close?
    • Does staff exit the building with a companion whenever possible?
    • Is your parking lot well lit at night?
    • Do employees keep their cars locked at all times?
    • Do you have a policy for threatening situations? Take the time to discuss these issues with all personnel.
    • Don't resist if the attacker is only after property or has a weapon.
    • If you decide to resist, don't get scared, get MAD! Shout "NO", "STOP", or "CALL THE POLICE!" Try to incapacitate the assailant long enough to escape.
    • Try to get an accurate description of the attacker, color of eyes and hair, type of clothing, height, weight, sex, and any unusual features such as scars or a tattoo.
    • If a vehicle is involved get the license number and direction of travel.
